Two things that shape every Rajkot pet move

One: Rajkot's industrial identity means the city has a specific traffic rhythm that we plan around. Rajkot calls itself the "workshop of the world," and that is not a slogan — it is a description of how the city works. The engineering cluster began in the 1940s when a British company introduced a diesel-engine water pump in what was then a largely agricultural area, and local craftsmen took the engines apart, studied them, and made their own. Over the following decades, that grew into thousands of MSMEs manufacturing diesel engines, submersible pumps, auto components, bearings, and machine tools, with Rajkot-built parts now integrated into global automotive and aerospace supply chains. The practical effect for pet moves is that the city's traffic follows industrial patterns: the roads connecting the industrial estates on Gondal Road, Morbi Road, and Kothariya Road carry heavy commercial vehicle traffic on weekday mornings and evenings, when shifts change and goods move. The 150-feet Ring Road, which was built as a model corridor with a dedicated BRTS lane, cycle track, and separate lanes for two- and four-wheelers, is now one of the busiest arterial roads in the city, with the BRTS corridor running from Madhapar Junction to Gondal Junction and heavy commercial activity along its length. For residential pickups in Kalawad Road, University Road, or Raiya Road, this has limited effect. For pickups near the industrial estates, we plan early morning slots to avoid the shift-change traffic.

Two: the Aji river runs through Rajkot, and the monsoon changes what is passable. The Aji is called the lifeline of Rajkot — it separates the city into east and west parts, and the city's development has followed its banks for centuries. There are four dams on the Aji, of which the Aji-I dam, built in 1954, remains the biggest local source of drinking water for the city. For most of the year, the riverbed is dry, and the roads that cross it are unremarkable. But from July to September, the monsoon can fill the Aji quickly, and low-lying areas on both banks are the first to be affected. The Nyari, a tributary of the Aji, runs along the eastern edge of the city and follows the same pattern. We check monsoon conditions and local road reports before confirming any pickup from July to September, and on red-alert days we hold pickups and reschedule at no cost. Waterproof crate liners and covered loading apply throughout these months. The new Rajkot International Airport at Hirasar, about 30 km from the city on the Rajkot–Ahmedabad highway, is also worth noting for long-distance moves — it opened in 2023 and now offers flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and other cities, which means pet moves no longer need to start with a drive to Ahmedabad.
