Two things that shape every Palanpur pet move

One: Palanpur is a former princely capital that became a diamond town, and the old Nawabi core and the newer trade belts need different pickup plans. Palanpur was the seat of the Lohani Nawabs — a princely state ruled by a family of Afghan-Pashtun origin, whose Joravar Palace still stands as the town's most recognisable landmark. That gives the old core a distinct character: the lanes around the palace and Ganj Bazaar, the historic quarters with their older houses and markets, and a street pattern that a large vehicle cannot always enter. Since independence, the town has rebuilt its identity around two very different industries — diamond cutting and polishing, and agricultural trading — and both have reshaped it. Palanpur is one of Gujarat's main diamond-polishing centres after Surat, and the Palanpuri community has deep ties to the diamond trade in Mumbai, Surat and Antwerp. The polishing units and the trading belts, along with the potato cold-storage yards and mandi areas that serve the surrounding farm country, sit on wider roads and along the highway, with their own shift hours and truck traffic. A pickup in the palace-quarter lanes and a pickup at a unit or cold-storage yard on Deesa Road or the highway belt are two completely different operations. Two: Palanpur is a hot, dry, water-scarce district on the Aravalli edge — and the distances, the heat and the pilgrimage seasons all shape when a pet can travel. Banaskantha is one of the driest districts in Gujarat, sitting where the green Aravalli foothills give way to the Thar fringe, and the Banas river and its reservoirs are the district's lifeline. Summer is genuinely brutal here — 44°C to 46°C afternoons are normal in May, and heat stress is a real risk for flat-faced breeds and older animals. Winter, oddly, is the opposite extreme: with the Aravallis to the east and north, December and January nights can fall to 6–8°C, so a pet used to coastal warmth needs a covered crate in those weeks. The district is also large and spread out. Deesa, Tharad, Dhanera, Vav, Suigam and Bhabhar lie 30 to 90 km from Palanpur, and the roads between them cross long, thinly populated stretches with few facilities, while the border talukas toward Suigam and Vav sit close to the India–Pakistan border and see BSF movement. Then there is the pilgrimage calendar. Ambaji, one of the major Shakti Peethas, is roughly 50 km from Palanpur, and the Bhadarvi Poonam fair in September brings enormous crowds through the district; Mount Abu and Abu Road, just across the Rajasthan border, are also the nearest hill stations and railheads and see heavy seasonal traffic.
