Two things that shape every Kakinada pet move

One: Kakinada sits directly in the Bay of Bengal cyclone corridor, and the city has taken direct hits before. The Andhra coast between Visakhapatnam and Nellore is one of the most cyclone-prone stretches in India, and Kakinada has been in the path of several major systems — Cyclone Hudhud in October 2014 caused significant damage across the city, and Cyclone Phailin in 2013 affected the wider Godavari delta. The peak windows are April–May and October–December, when depressions from the Bay intensify into cyclones. When a system forms, we track it from the moment the IMD issues its first advisory. If a depression is expected to intensify into a cyclone within 72 hours of your pickup, we proactively reschedule at no extra cost. Power, road access, and Godavari bridge conditions are all unreliable during and immediately after landfall, and we do not move pets through that window. Once the IMD lifts its warning and roads are confirmed passable, we resume. Waterproof crate liners and covered loading apply through the broader monsoon from June to September as well.

Two: the port and industrial belt shape local pickup timing. Kakinada's historic anchorage port loads cargo via barges from ships moored offshore, because the shallowness created by Hope Island — the natural sandbar that runs roughly 5 km off the coast — limits how close large vessels can come to shore. The newer Kakinada Deep Water Port, south of the city, bypasses this with deeper berths. On the industrial side, the city hosts major fertilizer plants and supports ONGC's operations in the KG Basin, and the resulting heavy-vehicle traffic builds up on the Kakinada–Samalkot Road and around the port access roads on weekday mornings. Residential pickups in Ramanayyapeta, Gandhinagar, and Sarpavaram are unaffected. For pickups near Vakalapudi, the port access roads, or the fertilizer belt, we recommend an early morning slot to avoid factory and port shift-change traffic. The same monsoon rules apply across the city: waterproof liners from June to September, and pickups rescheduled at no cost on red-alert days.
