Two things that shape every Gandhinagar pet move

One: Gandhinagar's sector layout is unlike any other Indian city, and it changes how every pickup is planned. Gandhinagar was built from scratch after Gujarat was formed as a separate state in 1960, with Ahmedabad-based architects and planners designing a new capital along the west bank of the Sabarmati. The city was divided into thirty numbered sectors — each sector a self-contained residential neighbourhood with its own market, school, and gardens, and within every sector, individual plots are further organised into alphabetical blocks like Block A, B, C, and D. That means addresses in Gandhinagar are not street-based the way they are in most Indian cities — they are sector-and-block based, and this is the standard way everyone in the city gives directions. For pet pickups, we always confirm the exact sector and block at booking, because Sector 22 and Sector 16 look similar on a map but are on opposite sides of the city, and the entry road into each sector depends on which side the block is on. The upside of the layout is that sector roads are wide, tree-lined, and mostly quiet — unlike the dense lanes of Ahmedabad or Surat, we rarely have to deal with narrow-lane constraints inside Gandhinagar itself.

Two: the city is one of India's greenest capitals, and GIFT City has added a new financial-district belt at its southern edge. Gandhinagar's planners gave the city a tree canopy from the beginning, and the result is roughly half the city sitting under green cover — the Sachivalaya (state secretariat) and Vidhan Sabha complex in the central sectors is surrounded by gardens, and the roads are lined with neem, gulmohar, and amaltas. For pet moves, this matters in a practical way: the canopy keeps sector temperatures a few degrees lower than the open industrial belts of Ahmedabad and Kalol, and pickups inside the residential sectors are generally more comfortable for the pet than pickups from exposed highway locations. At the southern end of the city, GIFT City — Gujarat International Finance Tec-City — has grown into India's first operational smart city and the country's only International Financial Services Centre, hosting global banks, fund managers, and IFSC-registered financial firms. The GIFT City belt, along with the adjoining residential areas at Kudasan, Sargasan, and Randesan, is now one of the fastest-growing parts of the capital region. Pickups from this belt connect to Ahmedabad via the Sabarmati bridge corridor, and we plan those departures to avoid the morning peak on the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar highway. Waterproof crate liners and covered loading apply through the monsoon from June to September, and pickups are rescheduled at no cost on red-alert days.
