Two things that shape every Dibrugarh pet move

One: Dibrugarh has its own airport, which changes the long-distance plan. Unlike most cities in Upper Assam, Dibrugarh has a working airport at Mohanbari, about 15 km east of the city, and it handles regular flights to Guwahati, Kolkata, and a limited set of other routes. That matters for pet moves because it removes the need to drive all the way down to Guwahati — which is roughly 440 km away on NH-15 and would otherwise be a full-day road trip on its own. For most long-distance destinations, the practical pattern is: door pickup in Dibrugarh, short transfer to Mohanbari, IATA-compliant crate fitting, cargo terminal handover, and coordination with the receiving terminal at the destination. For destinations Mohanbari does not serve directly, the pet flies first to Guwahati or Kolkata and connects onward. Because Mohanbari is a small regional airport with limited daily flights, we plan air shipping slots with a wider buffer than we would at a major metro.

Two: the Brahmaputra belt and the long NH-15 corridor set the road reality. Dibrugarh sits on the south bank of the Brahmaputra, and the few bridges that cross the river are all well upstream — the Bogibeel Bridge connects Dibrugarh to the Dhemaji side, and further crossings are at Tezpur and Guwahati. For pet moves heading west toward Jorhat, Sivasagar, or Guwahati, the route runs along NH-15 on the south bank, passing through tea-garden country and the oil belt around Duliajan and Digboi. It is a long drive, and during the monsoon from May to September the road can be affected by landslides in the hill sections and by localised flooding in low-lying stretches. We check Assam State Disaster Management Authority and NH-15 traffic advisories every morning through the monsoon. On red-alert days, pickups are rescheduled at no cost. For destinations east of Dibrugarh — Tinsukia, Digboi, Margherita — the drive is short and straightforward, and the same monsoon precautions apply in principle, though the routes are less affected.
