One: Darbhanga is the cultural heart of Mithila, and the city's layout reflects that layered history. Darbhanga has been the seat of the Darbhanga Raj — one of the most prominent estates in colonial India — and its legacy shows up in the city's structure. The old quarter around the Raj palaces, the historic ghats, and the temple clusters on the Bagmati side sit on narrow lanes that are not easy for large vehicles, while the newer commercial and administrative belt at Laheriasarai — around the railway station, the university, and the medical college — has wider roads and more predictable traffic. That split matters for pet pickups: from Laheriasarai, or from the newer residential belts like Bahadurpur and Sara Mohanpur, pickup is straightforward. From the older parts of the city near the Raj quarter or along the river ghats, we often use smaller vehicles or arrange the crate handover from a nearby main road, because the lanes there cannot accommodate a full-size cab. Two: Darbhanga sits between the Bagmati and the Kamala, and has its own airport, which changes the long-distance plan. Both rivers cross North Bihar and both swell dramatically during the monsoon — the Bagmati flows along the eastern side of the district, and the Kamala crosses the western belt. The result is that Darbhanga is one of the most flood-affected districts in Bihar, and the roads that connect it to Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, and Patna can be affected for hours or days when an embankment road or a bridge approach goes under water. We check flood warnings and road conditions before confirming any departure from June to September, and on red-alert days we hold pickups and reschedule at no cost. On the transport side, Darbhanga Airport — which began commercial operations in 2020 — has changed the picture for the whole Mithila region. It connects Darbhanga directly to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and a handful of other cities, which means long-distance pet moves no longer need to start with a drive to Patna.
