Two things that shape every Bhavnagar pet move

One: Bhavnagar's coastal belt is India's ship-recycling corridor, and the traffic it generates changes how pickups are planned. The Alang–Sosiya ship-recycling yard sits about 50 km southeast of Bhavnagar along the Gulf of Khambhat, and it is the largest ship-breaking yard in the world — hundreds of ships are dismantled here each year, and the steel they yield feeds re-rolling mills across Gujarat and beyond. What this means practically is that the roads connecting Bhavnagar to Alang and Sosiya carry continuous heavy-vehicle traffic on weekdays: trucks carrying steel plates, gas cylinders from the cutting operations, and the labour force that commutes to and from the yards. On the residential side of Bhavnagar itself — Waghawadi Road, Kalanala, Ambawadi, Rupani Circle — that traffic has little effect. But for pickups along the Ghogha Road corridor or near the Alang side of the district, we plan early-morning slots to avoid the worst of the shift traffic, and we avoid the Alang approach roads during the peak industrial hours. Separately, Ghogha — the historic port about 20 km south of Bhavnagar — now operates the Ro-Ro ferry service across the Gulf of Khambhat to Dahej. We do not transport pets on the ferry; road routes are always preferable for the animal's wellbeing, even when the drive is longer, because the ferry is crowded and the crossing times are unpredictable. For pet parents relocating to or from the Dahej side, we route the move by road via Ahmedabad or Vadodara instead.

Two: Bhavnagar is a former princely capital, and the old city core has narrow lanes that need smaller vehicles. Bhavnagar was founded in 1723 by Bhavsinhji Gohil and served as the capital of the princely state of Bhavnagar until 1948 — one of the most prominent princely states in Saurashtra, known for its early adoption of modern education and its contributions to ocean trade. That legacy shows up in the city's structure. The old core around Kalanala, the Takhteshwar Temple area, and the streets leading down toward the old port has narrow, winding lanes where a full-size SUV or sedan cannot easily stop. The newer residential belts — Vidhyanagar, Subhashnagar, Sardarnagar, and the Waghawadi Road area — have wider, planned roads with easier access. Victoria Park and the Gaurishankar Lake (Bor Talav) sit between these two zones and are among the greenest parts of the city. For pet pickups from the old core, we use smaller vehicles or arrange the crate handover from a nearby main road, walking the pet the short distance on a leash. Waterproof crate liners and covered loading apply through the monsoon from July to September, and pickups are rescheduled at no cost on red-alert days.
