Two things that shape every Ayodhya pet move

One: Ayodhya is being rebuilt faster than any city in India, and the road you used last year may genuinely not be the road this year. This is the single most important thing about moving anything — including a pet — in Ayodhya right now. Since the temple's consecration and the wider development push, the city has been in a state of continuous construction: new corridors like Ram Path, Dharam Path, Bhakti Path and the Janmabhoomi approach have been cut through and widened, the Ayodhya Dham Junction has been rebuilt into a modern station, the airport has opened, the ghats at Ram Ki Paidi and Naya Ghat have been re-landscaped, and approach roads, flyovers, bypasses and parking belts continue to change. For a pet move, this means two practical things. First, we confirm the route in the days before the pickup, not from memory — a turn that was open last month may be barricaded this month. Second, we ask what kind of address it is, not just the locality: the temple belt and the old quarters around Rikabganj, Amaniganj, Badi Bazar, Chowk, Nageshwarnath and Hanuman Garhi are dense, historically tight, and in several places pedestrian-only or vehicle-restricted for long stretches of the day, so pickups there need a small vehicle, an early slot, and a crate handover at a reachable point. The planned belts — Civil Lines, Saket Nagar, Trilokpuri, Devkali, Ashapur, Ranopali, and the newer colonies — were laid out with proper roads and are straightforward pickups. The river-side addresses along the Saryu ghats, the parikrama marg and the low ground near the bridges are a separate category again, because they are the first to be cut off when the river rises. And across the Saryu, Faizabad, Ayodhya Cantt and the university area form a planned twin town that behaves like a different city entirely — broad roads, easy pickups, and none of the temple-belt congestion. We confirm all of this at booking, and we never assume a route that works in Civil Lines will work in Rikabganj.

Two: in Ayodhya the pilgrim calendar does not just affect traffic — for several weeks a year it reorganises the entire city, and there are days when the right answer is simply to move the pickup outside the town. This is the birthplace of Rama and one of the seven holiest cities of Hinduism, and the devotional calendar here operates at a scale that has no equivalent in an ordinary city. Deepotsav at Diwali is the biggest of them all — lakhs of oil lamps lit along the ghats at Ram Ki Paidi and Naya Ghat, record-setting displays, and crowds that fill every road into the temple belt, with restrictions that begin well before the day itself. Ram Navami in Chaitra brings another enormous influx, as does the Kartik month, and the Chhoti Kashi / snan days at Makar Sankranti, Kartik Purnima and Amavasya draw pilgrims specifically to the Saryu ghats. Then there are the two parikramas, which are unlike anything in most cities: the Panch Kosi Parikrama, which circles the city over roughly 15 km, and the far larger Chaurasi Kosi Parikrama, an approximately 250 km circuit that runs through Ayodhya and the surrounding districts — during these, roads across the whole region carry continuous streams of walking pilgrims, and several routes are effectively closed to normal traffic. We plan around all of it. During major festival windows we schedule temple-belt pickups for early morning, before crowd build-up; we route around closed stretches; we use the reachable road as the crate handover point; and for the heaviest days we will tell you honestly that a pickup inside the old core is not realistic and that the practical plan is to move your pet from a point on the outskirts or from Faizabad instead. On the transport side, connectivity has genuinely transformed. Ayodhya Dham Junction now handles a large volume of long-distance trains, Ayodhya Cantt and Faizabad Junction add more options, NH-27 gives a fast run to Lucknow and Gorakhpur, and Maharishi Valmiki International Airport has opened up air travel — though pet carriage by air depends entirely on the airline's policy and must be pre-arranged, and we coordinate that honestly rather than promising something that fails at the counter. And then there is the Saryu. The river is the reason this city exists and the reason every monsoon is a risk: during a heavy season the Saryu floods, ghat-side and low-lying belts go under, and the bridges become the only way across, so we track the river level and the district advisories, keep a high-ground route ready, and reschedule at no cost on red-alert days. One local advantage: Ayodhya has a large, well-established animal welfare presence, including shelters and organised street-dog feeding networks, and local vets are experienced and accessible, so vaccination records are usually in good order — and we verify every document before departure.
