Two things that shape every Ambala pet move

One: Ambala is the Science City of India, and the scientific instruments cluster shapes the district's industrial belt. Ambala Cantonment has been the country's largest cluster for scientific and educational instruments since the 1940s, and today it accounts for an estimated 70–75% of India's educational scientific instrument exports. There are over 2,000 units in Ambala Cantonment alone, manufacturing glassware, electronic products, laboratory apparatus, microscopes, and educational instruments, with an annual turnover of over ₹3,000 crore. The industry association ASIMA represents more than 350 manufacturing units, and products from Ambala are supplied to schools, colleges, research laboratories, and healthcare institutions in over 50 countries worldwide. The practical effect for pet moves is that the roads connecting the industrial estates in Ambala Cantonment and the Timber Market belt carry steady commercial-vehicle traffic on weekdays, especially around the scientific instruments manufacturing clusters. For residential pickups in Mahesh Nagar, Kabir Nagar, or Punjabi Bagh, this has limited effect. Two: Ambala is the twin city, and it sits on the water divide between the Indus and Ganga river systems — but it also has a history of monsoon waterlogging that we plan around. The city is politically divided into two distinct areas — Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment — which sit about 8 km apart and function as one urban belt. Ambala Cantonment was established in 1843 after the British left their Karnal cantonment following the malaria epidemic of 1841–42, and it remains home to the Indian Army's II Corps and the Ambala Air Force Station, which is the oldest air base in India and the home of the first batch of Dassault Rafale fighter jets inducted into the IAF. That military presence shapes the cantonment's road layout — wide, tree-lined, and orderly, with colonial-era bungalows still standing. On the geography side, Ambala separates the Ganga river network from the Indus river network and is bounded by the Ghaggar and Tangri rivers. The Tangri is the more immediate concern: the industrial area near the Tangri river witnesses severe waterlogging every monsoon when the river overflows, and low-lying colonies in both Ambala City and Ambala Cantonment face flooding after heavy rain. The state has been addressing this — a ₹65-crore storm water drainage project was completed in the old Sadar area, a new ₹58-crore pipeline project is underway covering Lal Kurti, BC Bazaar, Outer Large Road, and Ekta Vihar, and an eight-kilometre embankment has been constructed along the Tangri river and connected to the GT Road. Even so, we check monsoon conditions and local road reports before confirming any pickup from July to September, and on red-alert days we hold pickups and reschedule at no cost.
